The Great Chocolate Race returns to La Cañada Memorial Park on Sunday, May 5 at 9 a.m. Hosted by The Flintridge Guild of Children’s Hospital for the fourth consecutive year, this annual event boasts several new features. These include police presence at intersections, a first aid station, donated and staffed by USC Verdugo Hills Hospital, a lively Mariachi band, and special guests.

The Guild will welcome the Chawla family, La Cañada Flintridge residents, whose two daughters are undergoing treatment at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). Parents Tina and Nitin Chawla praised the hospital.

“CHLA is our savior,” they said. “We couldn’t have managed our daughters’ health without the amazing pediatric expertise and care within 20 minutes of home.”

Their daughters were equally enthusiastic. Fourteen-year-old Nitya, said, “I am truly grateful for the doctors and personalized treatment I receive every time I visit CHLA.”

Twelve-year-old Tanvi added, “Thanks to CHLA, my doctors are always available to guide and help me manage my health.”

Back by popular demand are chocolate treats at every pit stop, official chip timing, T-shirts, medals, breakfast after the race, a kids’ fun zone and much more.
