The La Cañada Thursday Club enjoyed a presentation by the USC Verdugo Hills Hospital at its March luncheon. Keith Hobbs, chief executive officer of the hospital, informed the group of the many improvements in the hospital over the last few years, and some new additions, such as the neonatal intensive care unit that recently opened.

Christopher Luke Jackson, director of the Geropsychiatric Unit of the hospital, spoke on “Aging Smarter” and provided many good tips on remaining strong and healthy while aging. He explained the benefits of seeing a geriatrician for those in their mid-60s and older and gave a brief description of the legal documents regarding the handling of one’s assets and medical decisions that are very helpful to have in place.

The presentation was well received and the audience enjoyed hearing about the positive changes at the hospital and the look ahead to its future plans was most informative.
