The Verdugo Hills Women’s Chorus (VHWC) will attend an areawide rehearsal on March 24 in Riverside to prepare for the California Women’s Chorus 49th annual public concert. The public concert, themed “Sing, Sing, Sing,” will take place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 29 at the Hilton Doubletree in Whittier. Tickets are $15.

The local 35-member chorus will join members of seven other choruses throughout Southern California for the March rehearsal. Besides the classic Louis Prima tune “Sing, Sing, Sing,” the April 29 concert will feature such songs as “Edelweiss,” “How Can I Keep from Singing?” and “It’s a Grand Night for Singing.”

The California Women’s Chorus is a not-for-profit organization of 10 choruses. Each chorus prepares and performs a winter holiday program and a spring program for residents of assisted living facilities, senior groups and others. Through the annual concert, a raffle and performances by local choruses, CWC raises funds for scholarships for vocal students at the high school, college and graduate levels, and for those who are launching their vocal careers. In 2017, CWC gave three $3,000 scholarships and a $500 honorable mention to four outstanding young singers who were the top performers at a CWC audition.

Any woman who enjoys singing and would like to be a part of the CWC is asked to go online to www.cwchorus.com for further information. There’s always room for one more singer!
