Despite rainy skies, families were undeterred when heading to Montrose for its annual Kids ’n’ Kritters event, a free event presented by the Montrose Shopping Park Assn. from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday.

The event featured animals, both exotic and domestic, various first responders including representatives from the California Highway Patrol, Glendale Police Dept., the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Dept., Montrose Search And Rescue and firefighters from Glendale Fire Dept. were highlighted. A Kids Fun Zone featured inflatable slides and bungee jump for kids and a performance was given by members of Revolution Dance Center.

A farm animal petting zoo, provided by Don Tucker, gave children the chance to enjoy gentle creatures up close. Alissa Lachance of Wild Wonders returned to showcase various animals in the “Exotic Animals Shows.”

Attendees could also visit the weekly Harvest Market where they would find fresh California Certified and organic produce, flowers, baked goods and specialty foods.
