Farewell to Honorable Man
When I read in the Crescenta Valley Weekly that the Hon. Carl Raggio has gone beyond the veil and his funeral service would be July 21 at Holy Redeemer Church in Montrose, I said to myself, “Whoa!”
I first met Hon. Raggio when I first spoke at the Glendale City Council in January 1992. At Glendale City Council meetings he began to give advice to John Beach [on how to] better deal with city council sessions and other affairs with city hall. None in Glendale, Montrose and La Crescenta can forget Beach and his political showmanship.
Then there was the dueling at city council meetings between the Hon. Raggio and his fellow Jet Propulsion Laboratory co-worker Dr. David Wallis. Those were interesting encounters to witness in person.
The Hon. Carl Raggio designed his marvelous house. It was very nice and most impressive with its emphasizing huge interior beams.
His was a descendant of a Spanish land grant holder covering the Montrose and La Crescenta area.
I give my sincere condolences to the Hon. Carl Raggio family. The sun will never set on the Raggio family.
Best wishes,

Concerning the Tax Lien and CVWD
We need to see how much money [the water district] is paying out to employees per month. Also, how much money they are paying to cover pensions.
[CVWD] had to pay $500,000 to cover liability on the pension fund. As soon as CALPERS started charging interest, they pulled money from their reserve account and paid! There lies the problem: why didn’t they have the money?
How do the employees at the top get their raises? We, the public, have to see the audit. Also, how many mailers did the water district send out to cover this tax lien? A lot of the people at the
meetings said they talked to their neighbors and guess what? They didn’t know about [the tax lien]?This water district is very shady. If we don’t stop this, in less than five years from now [the district] will want another tax lien.
