NEWS FROM THE CVTC

Looking Ahead to a Robust 2026

The Crescenta Valley Town Council (CVTC) started the year with a sense of renewal and a steadfast commitment to representing the voices of La Crescenta residents. From new leadership to the ongoing monitoring of local developments, here is the latest news for February 2026.

At the first meeting of the year, LA County Supervisor Kathryn Barger presided over the swearing-in ceremony for the 2026 CVTC leadership.

  • Jeffrey Rodriguez was sworn in as the new president.
  • Daniel Kim assumes the role of vice president.
  • Jo Ann Stupakis was welcomed back as a new member and as the recording secretary, joining newly sworn-in or returning members including Donna Libra (treasurer) and Harry Leon.

The council expressed its gratitude to departing president Frida Baghdassarian for her leadership and unwavering commitment as she remains an active council member. The 2026 executive officer board was welcomed as it prepares to tackle the year’s upcoming challenges.

The CVTC Land Use Committee continues to closely monitor communications from the LA County Dept. of Regional Planning regarding the proposed Briggs Project (the 80-unit affordable housing development at Foothill Boulevard and Briggs Avenue). Community concerns regarding traffic congestion, fire safety and emergency evacuation routes remain a top priority. The Council is striving to facilitate a “harmonious relationship” by balancing the community’s needs with county oversight and developer goals. Supervisor Barger’s office recently requested that the developer, Abode Communities, address specific community feedback including building height and scale before proceeding further. Letters of communication are available for public viewing on the CVTC website at www.thecvcouncil.com.
