Officers from the Los Angeles Police Dept. – Mission Division arrested a Panorama City man after he led officers on a chase that ended in Glendale on Sunday.
It began in the 8800 block of Tobias Avenue in Panorama City.
“The suspect had a prior relationship with a female. He went over to the location [on Tobias] looking for her,” said Lt. Katie Burns, LAPD Mission Division. “He became upset and [allegedly] stabbed family members.”
The suspect allegedly stabbed the woman’s family members including two women, one reportedly the female’s mother, and a 3-month old child. The stabbing resulted in critical injuries to the mother.
“The suspect was a known person to [police],” Burns said.
When police attempted to approach the suspect he drove away leading to a pursuit that headed to Glendale. The suspect lost control of his vehicle near Chevy Chase Canyon and crashed. He then fled the scene by foot to the 3300 block of Chevy Chase Drive.
Residents in nearby neighborhoods were warned to stay inside while police conducted a search.
“He went to a location under construction, climbed onto the roof and didn’t want to come down,” Burns added.
The LAPD Crisis Negotiation team was contacted and convinced the suspect to surrender without further incident.
