The Glendale Police Department has partnered up with Nixle to implement its Community Notification System to Alert residents in real-time for localized situations and relevant community advisories related to the Police Department.
As a resident, there are several simple ways to register:
- Text your ZIP CODE to 888777 from your mobile phone
- Go to http://www.glendaleca.gov/government/departments/police-department/crime-prevention-crime-statistics/sign-up-for-nixle-notifications and sign up via the Nixle Widget
- Sign-up and create a User Profile on www.nixle.com
“The addition of Nixle will continue to build upon the network of mass notifications systems the City of Glendale employs to keep our residents and visitors updated regarding community events and emergency incidents involving the Glendale Police Department,” said, Chief Robert Castro. “I believe we all benefit when we strengthen our connection and outreach to the community.”
All Alerts will be targeted geographically, allowing residents to receive localized, relevant alerts from the Glendale Police Department. Nixle Alerts can be sent via Text, Email, Web, and the Nixle Mobile App in an instant. Nixle is partnered with NLETS for unmatched data security, as well as the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the National Blue Alert Network, and Google for unmatched reach and two-way information exchange.
The Nixle platform does not replace the Citywide Emergency Mass Notification System. Residents are encouraged to continue to update their information at Citywide Mass Notification System. This system alerts you to all emergencies related to infrastructure, water, power and public safety emergencies on a large scale. Residents are also encouraged to follow @MyGlendale for daily events.
