Don’t Worry About It

Don’t Worry About It

The CV Weekly offices are kitty-corner to the Verdugo Hills Post Office and typically someone from our office is over there every day for one reason or another. This week I stopped by to drop off some newspapers (we have a rack there) and buy some postage.

A woman was also waiting in line ahead of me, talking on her cellphone. I couldn’t help but hear her give the most awesome instructions to whomever she was speaking: “Let me know when I should start worrying about that.”

As we head into the holiday season, sometimes eagerly, sometimes kicking and screaming, I think this is advice to take to heart. I mean, why waste a good worry?

I actually incorporated this idea into my thought process a few years ago when I realized that many times I became anxious because I thought I was going to be late when going somewhere and I ended up arriving within five minutes of the desired time. Why stress out needlessly? There are plenty of other things to worry about anyway. I’m sure the people you’re with would appreciate it, too, if you postponed a meltdown.

So delay the worry and seize the day!

It looks like a crisp, clear night for the Montrose Christmas Parade this Saturday! I’m so excited – this is one of my favorite community events. Before climbing aboard the stake bed truck that the CV Weekly crew will be riding in for our journey down Honolulu Avenue, we’ll be serving hot coffee and apple cider and cookies at our window that faces Honolulu Avenue at La Crescenta Avenue. Plan to stop by and say hi! And don’t be concerned when we make our way down Honolulu if you don’t see our sales diva Lisa Stanners on board – she is out of town for this year’s festivities but wishes everyone the happiest of holidays!
