Starbucks on Today’s MSPA Agenda

The possibility of the addition of the Starbucks “Evenings” program to the Montrose location will be discussed at this morning’s monthly MSPA meeting (Nov. 5). The “Evenings” program would allow the sale of beer and wine at the store.

Those interested are welcome to attend the meeting that begins at 8 a.m. at the Professional Development Center (the PDC building) at 2340 Honolulu Ave. in Montrose.

Taste of the Foothills Tonight

Those who have culinary curiosities – or who are just hungry – are encouraged to take part in tonight’s annual Taste of the Foothills fundraiser. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for senior citizens and $10 for children 5 year and older. Tickets are available on-site. Food booths will offer samplings of local wares plus there will be live music and information booths on a variety of local organizations.

Taste of the Foothills takes place at the Ralph’s Marketplace in the 2600 block of Foothill Boulevard from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Sale at Library

The Friends of La Crescenta Library are sponsoring a holiday craft faire, bake sale & rummage sale in the meeting room at the La Crescenta Library. The event will be held on Saturday, Nov. 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be a unique collection of holiday gifts, home décor, accessories, sweets and much more. Get a head start on gifts for those on your list or just for yourself.

Free Flu Shots at Library

The County of Los Angeles Public Library and Dept. of Public Health Services are hosting flu vaccination clinics at various county public libraries.

Vaccinations are provided by nurses from the County of Los Angeles Dept. of Public Health. Vaccinations are being administered today, Thursday, Nov. 5 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 6 from
1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the La Crescenta Library, 2809 Foothill Blvd. in La Crescenta.

No insurance is required! Vaccinations are administered either through the influenza shot or nasal spray to anyone 6 months of age or older. Minors must be accompanied by their parent or guardian to receive immunizations.

Full Closures on Foothill Freeway

The California Dept. of Transportation (Caltrans) will fully close a short segment of the east- and westbound I-210 for pavement grinding. This work is a part of the I-210 Paving and Rehab Project starting at the Dunsmore Avenue undercrossing to the North Los Robles Avenue overcrossing. Scheduled closures are subject to change and/or cancelation.

Thursday, Nov. 5 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Eastbound I-210 to the Eastbound I-210 Tunnel

• Profile grind the existing concrete pavement.

Detour:

• Motorists will be detoured to the Colorado Boulevard off-ramp. Travel east to Walnut Street then go east on Corson Street to the eastbound I-210 on-ramp. Signed detours will be posted.

The night closures are necessary to minimize traffic delays and provide a safer work zone for construction crews and motorists while working along the I-210.

Intermittent closures of two lanes on the eastbound and westbound I-210 continue through Monday, Nov. 9, each night from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Scheduled closures are subject to change and/or cancelation.

Continuing through Nov. 9, Sunday through Thursday from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

• Ocean View Boulevard overcrossing to the Foothill Boulevard overcrossing – Installing drainage system. Note: Day and night time work will be performed behind K-rail.

Residents and local businesses located near the freeway may notice noise, vibrations and dust associated with construction activities.  Noise levels will not exceed state and federal regulations.
