On Saturday, Oct. 18 the Glendale Police Dept. hosted its Open House and Touch-a-Truck event at the GPD Station, 131 N. Isabel. The street was closed and filled with booths and trucks including those from Glendale Water and Power, the fire department and Montrose Search and Rescue. Kids got to climb in and honk horns. In the GPD community room, kids could try their hand at solving a crime, which was set up by the Forensic Unit. In addition, GPD had a number of tables with examples of units including SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactical), GPD air support and cyber crime units. In a separate room, kids could train like officers with a series of heavy bags, boxing gloves and boxing pads.
