400 block of Meadow Grove Street in La Cañada, the front windshield of a vehicle was cracked in several areas after it was apparently damaged with a can of Spam that was thrown at the vehicle when it was parked between 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Aug. 30
500 block of Dartmouth Place in La Cañada, several rooms of a home were ransacked, a bathroom window was shattered and pry marks were on a door. Nothing was reported stolen at the time.
The incident occurred between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m.
Aug. 29
2200 block of Florencita Avenue in Montrose, a woman reported that, as she was returning to her apartment, she turned a corner and saw a man, described as Hispanic in his 20s, wearing a hoodie and blue jeans. The man turned away from her and ran up the stairs toward her apartment. She yelled at him; he stopped and turned back to her. She asked him what he was doing and he reportedly told her he was waiting for a friend and that he would come back later. She noticed a black rolling backpack on the ground near a storage unit, and that unit’s door was ajar.
At the same time, the woman saw a woman, described as in her 20s, with blonde hair, wearing a pink tank top and jean shorts, walk into the area where the man had been. The woman contacted sheriffs and, during an investigation, they discovered the black rolling backpack and open storage unit belonged to a person who lived in the apartment complex. He found the backpack had been filled with other items from his storage unit that had been found to also have pry marks.
The incident occurred at 11 p.m.
Aug. 28
600 block of Houseman Street in La Cañada, a briefcase, sunglasses, shoes, a laptop computer, golf clubs and other items were stolen from a vehicle between midnight and 8 a.m.
5000 block of Indianola Way in La Cañada, an insurance card, vehicle registration and a garage remote control were stolen from an unlocked vehicle. Surveillance footage shows a man with a medium build, wearing a light colored T-shirt, long light colored shorts and white athletic shoes walk northbound from the street to the victim’s vehicle. It appeared he had a grocery bag in one hand and a flashlight in the other. He opened the car door, appeared to ransack the interior, and then leave when he heard the garage door open.
The theft occurred at 3:15 a.m.

600 block of Houseman Avenue in La Cañada, personal items were stolen from an unlocked vehicle overnight.
600 block of De Nova Street in La Cañada, the interior of a locked vehicle was ransacked overnight.
