The Glendale Police Dept. is investigating the theft of a wedding gift box during a celebration at a local banquet that contains approximately $60,000 in cash and checks.
On Sunday, Aug. 31 at about 12:50 a.m., Glendale police officers responded to the Renaissance Banquet Hall at 1236 S. Central Ave. regarding the theft.
Witnesses reported that shortly after midnight, a male suspect entered the banquet hall, grabbed the gift box and fled through an exit. Surveillance footage shows the suspect entering the passenger seat of a newer black Mercedes SUV, which then fled the area.
The suspect is described as a male, approximately 40 years old, of Middle Eastern or White descent, with a bald head and a medium build.
The victim reported that the stolen box contained approximately $60,000 in cash and checks gifted by wedding guests.
