Glendale Issues RFP

The Glendale Economic Development Corporation is seeking an experienced firm, adept in business attraction plan development, and a track record of successful experience working with the technology industry to develop a strategic plan and chart a course to further cultivate Glendale’s technology industries.

Firms experienced in tech attraction initiatives, technology cluster development or strategic plan development are invited to respond to the Request for Proposals by Thursday, Oct. 8.

Babysitting Class at USC-VHH

USC Verdugo Hills Hospital’s family education program is offering babysitting classes for teens who are interested in learning skills that will assist them as they watch over young ones. Each class is a single one-time class that will cover infant/child CPR, basic first aid, home/auto safety, accident prevention, telephone skills, safety tips, poison control, fire/earthquake plans and when to call 911. The classes are $45 per person.  The next class is scheduled for Sept. 19.

Path to College Workshop

ANCA CV is hosting an educational workshop on Saturday, Sept. 19 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the La Crescenta Library.

Path to College will cover topics that include career planning, the university application process and FAFSA, resume and internships and more. Student panelists present hands-on experience and there will also be Q&A with counselors and field professionals.

Refreshments will be served.

Descanso Gardens Hosting Drought-Tolerant Landscaping and Rain Barrel Event

Foothill Municipal Water District (FMWD) is having a special drought tolerant landscape and rain barrel event at Descanso Gardens on Sunday, Sept. 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Residents must RSVP to FMWD at (818) 790-4036 to receive free admission to Descanso Gardens, 1418 Descanso Dr., La Cañada Flintridge. Seating for the classes is limited and will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Barrels must be purchased by Sept. 10 from www.RainBarrelsIntl.com or by calling (919) 602-6316. Pre-ordered rain barrels will be available for pick-up at the event. The cost is $85.
