Fatal Pedestrian vs Vehicle Accident on Ocean View

On Saturday, Aug. 16 at approximately 7:55 p.m., California Highway Patrol  officers responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash with ambulance responding, which occurred near the intersection of Ocean View Boulevard and Mira Vista Avenue.

Upon arriving at the scene,  deputies with Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Dept. and personnel with Los Angeles County Fire located a male pedestrian lying within the roadway.

The pedestrian sustained major injuries as a result of the crash. Los Angeles County Fire personnel began life saving measures on-scene. The pedestrian was subsequently transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced deceased as a result of his injuries.

Upon preliminary investigation, it was determined the driver of a blue Volvo was traveling southbound within the No. 1 lane of southbound Ocean View Boulevard at Mira Vista Avenue at approximately 35-40 mph when the pedestrian crossed the roadway directly in front of the Volvo. As a result, the Volvo struck the pedestrian.

The name of the deceased has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.
