1200 block of Fernside Drive in La Cañada Flintridge, deputies responded to a call concerning a possible burglary. The resident reported as he was inside his residence he heard a noise coming from the backyard. He assumed it was his gardeners leaving his home. While standing on the east side driveway of the property he observed an individual described as a male Hispanic adult, about 5’7” and weighing 220 lbs. The suspect was wearing a black mask and dark clothing and was standing near an open door leading to a room inside the resident’s home. The resident yelled at him. The suspect immediately fled the area with the resident chasing him. He saw the suspect enter a blue Mercedes SUV that was parked nearby. The resident described the driver of the SUV as a male Hispanic, about 6’2” tall and weighing about 180 lbs. He had a beard and was wearing dark clothing. Apparently this second suspect was acting as a lookout as he was standing on the corner near the property.
The resident ran to the SUV and struck the rear window with his fist causing the window to shatter. Both suspects fled the area. The resident had minor injuries due to the shattered glass.
The attempted residential burglary occurred at 11:08 a.m.
Aug. 9
900 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada Flintridge, an employee of a store at the location reported two suspects had entered the store and stole several items. Suspect No. 1 was described as a male Hispanic, 5’4” tall, weighing 125 lbs. with a mustache and wearing a black hat, black shirt and black pants with miscellaneous tattoos on both arms.
Suspect No. 2 was described as a female Hispanic, 5’6” tall, weighing 145 lbs. with long black hair, black long sleeved shirt and blue jeans. Surveillance footage revealed the suspects entering the store and placing items into a hamper, which they then put into a shopping cart. The suspects proceeded to the emergency exit of the store but turned away as the employee approached them. They walked down a nearby aisle where Suspect No. 1 grabbed the hamper full of items and ran out of the rear emergency exit as Suspect No. 2, carrying what appeared to be sheets, left via the store’s front door at 8:57 p.m.
Aug. 6
500 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada Flintridge, deputies responded to a call concerning a theft. The victim reported she had used the self-service walkup ATM at the location. Upon completion of her transaction she observed a woman, described as an adult, about 60 years old, of Armenian descent with red hair, pacing near the entrance of the bank. Shortly after the female suspect approached the victim in the parking lot and showed her cash and either asked for change or asked whether she had dropped the money (the suspect had a thick accent). The victim said no, but the suspect asked her to check her purse just to make sure. When she did the suspect attempted to touch the victim’s purse. The victim asked her not to do that and stepped back from the suspect. The victim left the area but then began receiving multiple text messages from her bank company indicating her debit card had been used in attempted transactions from the branch the victim had just left. She returned and spoke to the bank manager to report the incident and then contacted law enforcement.
The theft occurred at 12:36 p.m.
