CV Weekly Offices Closed for Holiday
The offices of Crescenta Valley Weekly will be closed tomorrow, Friday, May 25 and Monday, May 28 for the Memorial Day holiday.

 

CVCA Meets Tonight
The Crescenta Valley Community Association will meet tonight, Thursday, May 24 at 7 p.m. in the community room at the La Crescenta Library. The Steering Committee will be reorganized and objectives updated. All who have an interest in cross-jurisdictional community involvement are invited to participate.

Tour the Rosemont Preserve with Roger Klemm
Take a tour of the Rosemont Preserve on May 26 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with the “Guerilla Gardener” Roger Klemm. Klemm is a native plant expert, passionate about restoring native habitat one garden at a time! He will describe the native plants at the Preserve and explain how to include more native plants in home gardens.
This event is free to the public, all ages, no reservations required. Sturdy shoes, long pants, and a hat are recommended, as are water and sunscreen. Rain cancels event. Sorry, no pets please.
The Preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, please park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave., La Crescenta, and then walk north two blocks to enter the Rosemont Preserve.

‘Beary’ Good Time at Deukmejian
The next City of Glendale Trails and Open Space campfire program (“Bear-lieve it or Not”) will try to answer questions about bears – and more – at Deukmejian Wilderness Park on Saturday, June 2. This is the first campfire of the season.
Explore the truth, the myths and the legends associated with bears. Come at 6:30 p.m. for a craft or folks can arrive at 7 p.m. for the start of the program. Reserve a space by calling (818) 548-3795. This will be an evening of songs, stories, skits, smiles, and s’mores.

Wildlife Exhibit on Display at Descanso Gardens
Arroyos & Foothills Conservancy partnered with Descanso Gardens, the LA Zoo, Natural History Museum of Los Angeles, The Nature Conservancy and others to create a unique exhibit focused on habitat connectivity in the region.
The exhibit “Growing Habitat: LA’s Wildlife and Descanso” at the Sturt Haaga Gallery in Descanso Gardens will feature images from local Rosemont Preserve photographer/trackers Johanna Turner and Denis Callet, along with graphic designer and photographer Althea Edwards.
Learn about the habitat that supports potential wildlife corridors in the area and find out what is being done to preserve them. Admission fee required.
The exhibit continues through Aug. 27.
