March 21

Angeles Crest Mile Marker 19.19 in Angeles National Forest, a woman parked her vehicle at the location; when she returned she found that the driver’s side door key lock no longer worked with her vehicle’s key fob. All other doors did unlock with the fob. Once she entered her vehicle she discovered several personal items had been stolen. 

The theft occurred between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. 

Angeles Crest Highway, Mile Marker 35.50 in Angeles National Forest, a person reported that they parked their vehicle at the location and walked away. When they returned they found the driver’s side door key locking mechanism had been broken and several personal items were stolen between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.

March 20

600 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada Flintridge, deputies responded to a call at a store from a loss prevention employee that showed them security footage of a theft. The security footage revealed a suspect, described as a male, enter the store through the front entrance and walk immediately to the woman’s purse section of the store. There he took a purse from the display stand and walked upstairs to the second floor. The footage then showed him taking a shopping cart and placing the purse inside the cart. He walked to the men’s clothing section and took a pair of men’s “active” shorts, which he placed in the cart. He walked into the home goods section and took four black tote bags, placing them in the cart. He continued to walk around the store shopping and placing items into the cart. He then walked out of view of the security cameras for a few minutes; when he returned many of the items that were in the shopping cart were no longer there. The only item left were the shorts and the tote bags, which he began to walk out of the store without paying for. The employee stopped the suspect and took him to the loss prevention office. The suspect told the employee that he was taking the items because he was homeless and did not have funds to pay for the items. 

He returned the stolen items and LASD deputies were called at 5:47 p.m.

700 Angeles Crest Highway in Angeles National Forest, a man entered the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station and reported that his vehicle was burglarized while parked near Switzer Falls. He reported that he parked in the upper lot area and he and a friend went for a hike. When they returned they discovered several personal items had been stolen from the vehicle, including credit/debit cards. The victim of the theft found that someone had attempted to use one of the stolen credit/debit cards. The card was then reported stolen. The exterior lock of the vehicle was damaged. 

The vehicle burglary occurred between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.
