Prescribed Burns Planned
Over the next few days, the U.S. Forest Service will be conducting prescribed burns in the Angeles National Forest in the Mt. Baldy and Mt. Wilson areas.

 

Museum Meeting
The Armenian American Museum will be hosting a community meeting for the public today, Thursday, March 8 at 7 p.m. at the Glendale Adult Recreation Center. The community meeting will provide an opportunity to learn more about the project and provide feedback to help shape the future of the cultural and educational center developing in Glendale.

Rosemont Preserve Habitat Restoration
Explore the outdoors and help restore the native habitat at the Rosemont Preserve on Saturday, March 10 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Come and see the new trail, help remove some invasive plants and water the young trees. Learn about our biodiversity project on iNaturalist and learn how to become a citizen scientist!
Please bring water to drink, wear sturdy shoes, comfortable clothes and garden gloves (long pants and sleeves are recommended). Tools will be available.
Park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave., La Crescenta, and then walk north two blocks to enter the Rosemont Preserve. No reservations required, no pets please!

Coffee and Conversation with Assemblymember Friedman
Learn what’s happening in Sacramento by attending Coffee and Conversation with Assemblymember Laura Friedman on Saturday, March 10 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Ovrum Community Center in Burbank.

SMART DriverTEK Workshop
A SMART DriverTEK Workshop is being held at Bob Smith Toyota on Wednesday, March 14 at 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. The free workshop provides information on crash avoidance systems currently available in cars and teaches how these systems enhance driver performance while saving lives.

Graduation Ceremony For Uniquely Abled Academy
A graduation ceremony and open house will be held on Wednesday, March 14 for students of the Glendale Community College Uniquely Abled Academy. The event starts at 6 p.m. in the Student Center.
The Uniquely Abled Academy is a 16-week program that teaches those with high functioning autism how to be CNC (computer numerical controlled) manufacturing machinists. The program includes CNC training, job readiness skills training, job search support and post-hire support.

A town hall meeting on safety is being held on March 13 at 6 p.m. in the MacDonald Auditorium at Crescenta Valley High School. Superintendent Winfred Roberson and representatives from GPD and LASD-CV Station are expected to be the featured speakers.

The 22nd Foothill Community Clean-up Day is scheduled for Saturday, March 31 from 9 a.m. to noon. This volunteer community service day provides the opportunity for students, families, service organizations, businesses and other groups to “make a difference” by sprucing up the foothill community. Participants are encouraged to wear sturdy shoes and to bring work gloves.
