Feb. 25
4800 block of Hampton Road in La Cañada, a woman reported that she heard someone knocking at her front door and ringing the doorbell. She looked to see who it was and found it was a family member, a 35-year-old Glendale man. She did not open the door because the family member, a nephew, had broken into her home in the past and allegedly stole items. She alleged that he had a drug addiction. The man then jumped over the back wall of her home and climbed a ladder to the back window. He tore part of the screen window; when the resident yelled at him he climbed down the ladder and left at 11:05 a.m.

 

Feb. 24
400 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada, a person reported someone drove into a wall on private property and damaged it, then drove away. A witness said she observed the collision and saw the vehicle in a parking garage. After an investigation the owner of the vehicle was found. He appeared to have been drinking and told deputies he was walking home. He reportedly said he had not been driving the vehicle during the time of the accident. Deputies reported he did not have any sign of being in an accident. The vehicle did have a key hidden on it.
The vehicle had been stolen between 10:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.
Feb. 23
3000 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Crescenta, a 19-year-old La Crescenta man was arrested for embezzlement of a business. A manager was alerted of the theft by an automatic employee tracking device, which had 19 alerts over the period of time regarding refund transactions made by the 19-year-old employee. The manager stated he had investigated and found that the employee allegedly had taken customers’ receipts and made refunds on his own behalf in order to take money out of the cash register. The employee allegedly told deputies that he had taken a certain amount out of the cash register weekly and several gift cards as well.
The thefts occurred between Aug. 4, 2017 and Feb. 23, 2018.

 

Feb. 22
1500 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada, a 38-year-old Glendale man was arrested for forgery, suspicion of possession of methamphetamine, suspicion of possession of narcotic paraphernalia and suspicion of possession of marijuana concentrate. The investigation began when deputies were contacted by an employee who stated he had been a victim of a counterfeit money transaction. He described the person and vehicle. A deputy found the vehicle and made a traffic stop at 10:30 a.m.

 

Feb. 21
2600 block of Altura Avenue in La Crescenta, a global positioning system, a money bag, quarters in a roll and paperwork were stolen from an unlocked vehicle.

 

Feb. 20
900 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada, a purse with personal information was stolen from an unlocked vehicle between 4:40 p.m. and 5:05 p.m.

 

Feb. 19
2300 Del Mar Road in Montrose, a catalytic converter was stolen from a vehicle overnight.

 

Feb. 14
2700 block of Fairmount Avenue in La Crescenta, someone cut the brackets and gate hook of a fence at a residence between Feb. 14-22.
