IN Brief

Work Planned by SCE

Southern California Edison will be performing maintenance on the electrical system in the area. In order to perform this work safely, SCE must temporarily turn off power. This outage will allow the modernization of the grid by making needed upgrades and repairs to increase reliability. Power outages may cause some inconvenience and therefore attempts are made for outages to be isolated down to the smallest area possible and the work completed safely and quickly.

The work will start on Feb. 13 at 9:30 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. Fifteen residential customers will be affected. No commercial customer or Traffic Control meters will be affected.

The outage boundary is La Cañada Boulevard, west side, north of El Vago Street.

Note that the power may be off for the whole period or may be turned off more than once. This planned outage may not begin exactly at the stated start time, and some conditions may cause this planned outage to be postponed. The times noted are SCE’s best estimate and circumstances may affect both the start time and the completion time indicated above.

Arbor Day Celebration Planned

The community is invited to Glendale’s 62nd Arbor Day observance on Tuesday, March 7 at 10 a.m. for light refreshments with program at 10:30 a.m. at the Casa Adobe de San Rafael in Glendale. This event recognizes those making donations of trees and donors meeting the deadline will be presented with a certificate. Arbor Day remarks will be made by Dan Hardgrove, who is deputy director for Field Services (including street trees) in the city’s Public Works Dept.

Celebrate Arbor Day 2017 and participate in beautifying the city by donating $45 for an Arbor Day tree to be planted in available City of Glendale parks and library areas. Trees absorb climate-harming carbon dioxide and thus make a beneficial and lasting tribute honoring or memorializing a special person, event or cause.

Tree donation deadline is Feb. 28; go to GlendaleBeautiful.org to download the donation form to mail with a check, or to donate online with a credit card. Arbor Day activities are presented by Glendale Beautiful, a non-profit working for a beautiful and green Glendale, in cooperation with the city’s Community Services and Parks Dept.
