Fit Expo This Weekend in LA

  Returning for its 13th blockbuster year, The Bodybuilding.com TheFitExpo Los Angeles presented by Subway Restaurants comes to the Los Angeles Convention Center, January 23-24. The West Coast’s largest fitness event, FitExpo Los Angeles offers attendees 21 free competitions, events, workshops and appearances by the top fitness celebrities in the industry. This action-packed weekend boasts 700 exhibits featuring the latest in fitness, diet, nutrition, strength and wellness products and services with show discounts and tons of free samples.

 

“With innovative products constantly emerging and the rise of creative workouts being introduced to the marketplace, TheFitExpo offers the perfect arena for brands to showcase their latest products and engage with fitness enthusiasts,” said Erin Ferries, Executive Director of National Fitness Productions. “After last years’ record breaking attendaznce of 60,000 people, we have again expanded the exhibit floor to make room for new competitions, performance areas, celebrities and exhibitors.”

 

Several exciting new events have been added this year including:

 

Bboy & Bgirl “Breakdown” – See the international pioneer breakers compete for cash prizes at TheFitExpo’s invitational competition event like no other. Street dance pros who have led the global movement will amaze and inspire with their exciting style of constantly evolving street dance.

 

Slacklining – Trickline Pros will amaze you with their slacklining skills as they balance, flip and spin along a narrow, flexible piece of webbing that is low to the ground and anchored between two points. Originating from the climbing world, slacklining has evolved into a cross trainer, backyard activity and extreme sport of its own.  

 

Athlon Kickboxing Challenge 2016 WAKO West Coast Regional Championships – See this unique tournament where athletes test their skills in three rule styles — full contact, low kick and K-1. This event is used to select fighters to represent Team USA in the upcoming 2017 world championships in Ireland.  

 

Appearing for the first time at TheFitExpo will be the fitness industry’s iconic pioneer, Denise Austin, who has sold more than 24 million exercise videos, authored 12 books and starred in the longest running fitness show on television. She will appear with her daughter, rising fitness star of the Get Fit with Katie series, Katie Austin.

 

Other fitness greats scheduled to appear will include: Phil Heath, 5x and current Mr. Olympia; Jay Cutler, 4X Mr. Olympia Champion; Sadik Hadzovic, the 2015 Arnold Classic Physique Champion; Mike Rashid, celebrity master trainer that was a former professional boxer who won two national Golden Gloves; Metta World Peace professional athlete; Kali Muscle, bodybuilder with 27 million views on YouTube and successful author, actor, philanthropist, motivator; CT Fletcher, 6X World Champion Powerlifter; Dana Linn Baily, first Ms. Physique Olympia 2013; Max “The Body” Philisaire, celebrity personal trainer, best known for mental and spiritual approach to health and fitness; Jon Call “Jujimufu”, a self taught tricking athlete combines bodybuilding and strength training; Internet bodybuilding sensation Massy Arias, a health coach with 1.8 million Instagram followers; and many more. Also, an special appearance by MMA Fighters Jon “Bones” Jones, Fabricio Werdum and as well as renowned MMA referee and fighter Herb Dean.

 

Several fan favorites are set to return including the SoCal Affiliate Showcase, the All American MAS Wrestling Championship and Battle of the Bar (calisthenics) along with Team Loopkicks (Extreme Martial Arts Tricking Team) and the Strength Project/Flying Tortillas.

 

Crowd pleasing competitions will include: The Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Nationals (Jiu Jitsu Tournament), IRON MAN Magazine Naturally Bodybuilding, Physique, Figure & Bikini Championships, Odd Haugen Strength Classic Decathlon (includes All American Strongman Challenge Visegrip Viking Challenge and Absolute, “Open”, American MAS Wrestling Championship), American Record Makers Olympic Weightlifting Competition, The USPA American Cup Powerlifting Invitational, MET-Rx Vise Grip Viking Challenge and Bodybuilding.com’s BodySpace™ Spokesmodel Search. Attendees get the chance to win prize money and bragging rights as TheFitExpo’s Best and GAT’s MAXREPS 4 CASH return, offering $1,500 in cash prizes and $2,400 in GNC gift cards.

 

Attendees are encouraged to come dressed to work out as the Evolution Fitness Conference (EFC) offers free mini-workouts, demos and fitness challenges daily on the Group Exercise Stage. The area’s top fitness professionals will offer sample sessions in Kettlebell AMPD, The BRUTEZ, Zumba, R.I.P.P.E.D, PILOXING Knockout, FLIGHT (yoga dance fusion), Pound Rockout Workout, and more. Plus work out with Katrina & Karena, the founders of the Tone It Up “Booty Call”, a work out that offers a fresh approach to fitness with a fun, energetic, girlfriend-to-girlfriend method of getting fit.

 

Over 16 complete classes and a chance to earn eight Certified Education Units (CEU) workshop sessions will also be offered throughout the weekend upstairs for both the fitness enthusiasts and the pros. New this year will be the Innovations Showcase Circuit lead by Women’s Health Magazine’s 2015’s Next Fitness Star winner Nikki Metzger. This power packed class will allow participants to try the latest wearable technology and the leading brands including FitBit, Axius Core, Suples Bulgarian Bag, Go Flo Trainer, Maria Kang’s Belly Ball, and Kettlebell AMPD in this boot camp style workout. (Separate fee to participate in CEU sessions). 

 

The Healthy Living Pavilion will feature a variety of seminars and cooking demonstrations with leading experts discussing numerous topics and tips on incorporating fitness and healthy eating into your everyday schedule for Paleo, vegetarian and vegan, hi protein, low carb and low sugar. Bring your appetite as innovative products will be available to sample and purchase including I Heart Keenwah popular quinoa puffs and crisps, Explore-Asian Black Bean Pasta, Arctic Zero’s paleo-friendly ice cream, protein-rich jerky by Lawless Jerky, La Croix flavored sparkling waters, as well as an assortment of wholesome nut butters, coconut waters, natural plant-based super food products, and much more. Attendees can also meet the cast of the new docudrama The Perfect Physique, presented by MET-Rx that will include Jeremy Buendia (2nd and current Men’s Physique Olympia Champion), Jason Poston (IFBB Pro/Model), fitness model/actor/producer T.J. Hoban, and cover model and fitness expert David Kimmerle. This show reveals what it takes to become a champion and allows viewers to get to know each athlete and to understand his internal struggles and sacrifices.

Adult admission tickets are $30 per day or $45 for the full weekend. Children 12 years and under are $10 per day and children under 6 are free.
