400 block of Carmel Road in La Cañada Flintridge, items were found stolen from an unlocked vehicle. Security footage revealed a gray SUV arrived and parked near the driveway of the residence. A person exited the SUV, walked to the victim’s vehicle and opened the unlocked driver’s side door. The suspect was described as wearing an ankle-length gray dress and black sweater.
The theft occurred at 1:19 a.m.
Jan. 17
1100 block of Lavender Lane in La Cañada Flintridge, a resident stated that he had left his home around 2 p.m. and when he returned several hours later he found the master bedroom had been ransacked. He contacted the CV Sheriff’s Station; deputies arrived. It was found that a wallet was stolen from the home.
Security footage revealed the suspect’s face as the suspect walked up the driveway and entered the backyard through an unlocked side gate. The suspect was seen wearing a gray hoodie without a mask or gloves and was carrying a large orange bag.
The burglary occurred at 7:30 p.m.
Jan. 16
2300 block of Caracas Avenue in La Crescenta, a resident contacted the CV Sheriff’s Station to report fraudulent activity. The resident reported that she had mailed a check to cover a security camera service at the USPS on Foothill Boulevard. The next day she received a voicemail from a bank informing her the check had been cashed at the bank in Florida. It had not been cashed by the business she had mailed the check to earlier. She froze her checking account and reported it to LASD at 4 p.m.
500 block of Paulette Place in La Cañada Flintridge, a woman reported that she received a text message from a number that stated it was from Spectrum. The message offered her a discount to services. She called the number from the text and was advised to obtain Target gift cards in a specific account to receive the discounted offer. She did obtain the Target cards and gave the information to the person on the phone but then later confirmed it was not, in fact, Spectrum that had originally contacted her.
The fraudulent activity occurred at 3:35 p.m.
