The Brand Library & Art Center is announced the return of Art Talks at Brand this fall. This series invites contemporary artists to discuss their work and the issues surrounding it. Each talk will be followed by a moderated Q&A session led by Brand staff member, artist and writer Jennifer Remenchik. The fall series will feature Los Angeles-based artists Ish Lipman, Andres Estrada Payan and Christina Ballantyne. The series is sponsored by the Brand Associates; it is free and open to the public. Each talk is at 7 p.m.
On Thursday, Oct. 30 Andres Payan Estrada (b. Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico) will be making a presentation. He currently lives and works between El Paso, Texas and Los Angeles. He works predominantly with craft-based processes, exploring social surfaces, ephemeral exchanges and cultural histories. With a focused lens on queer identity, his recent bodies of work span collage, fused glass, ceramics, and jacquard weaving – examining both the physicality and transience of queer nightlife spaces.
Brand staff member and program moderator Jennifer Remenchik is an artist and writer based in Los Angeles. Remenchik began organizing art talks at Brand Library & Art Center to showcase artists who reflect the diversity of the art scene of the greater Los Angeles area.
