Pianist Awadagin Pratt Makes Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra Debut

Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra presents Bourgeoisie: Mozart + Haydn + Handel, featuring the LACO debut of celebrated pianist Awadagin Pratt, “one of the great and distinctive American pianists of our time (WGBH), performing Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23 on a program led by Grammy-winning conductor Jeannette Sorrell for one night only, Saturday, March 15 at 7:30 pm at Glendale’s Alex Theatre.

  Sorrell, recognized as a leading interpreter of baroque and classical repertoire, also conducts Mozart’s sonorous overture from Don Giovanni, selections from Handel’s endearing The Water Music, as well as the final of Haydn’s three time-of-day symphonies, Le soir (Evening). This marks Sorrell’s second LACO appearance.

  LACO recognizes the support of the Colburn Foundation. The orchestra also receives public funding via grants from the National Endowment for the Arts; State of California; California Arts Council; the Los Angeles County Arts Commission; City of Los Angeles Dept. of Cultural Affairs; Perenchio Foundation; and Walter J. + Holly O.
