GLENDALE KIWANIS 

The Kiwanis Club of Glendale meets on Fridays at noon. On March 20, Nina Crowe from Glendale Arts will be making a presentation.

The cost to attend Friday meetings, which includes lunch and program, is $25. All are welcome. 

The Club meets Friday afternoons at the Elks Lodge, 120 E. Colorado St. in Glendale.

‘CONVERGENCE’ AT FOREST LAWN

Join Forest Lawn Museum on Saturday, March 21 for the public opening reception for “Convergence: Contemporary Artists of Armenian Descent.” 

The opening reception is from 5-7:30 p.m. The free event is open to the public and will feature complimentary drinks and hors d’oeuvres, and a DJ set by Bei Ru (beirumusic.com). Bei Ru is an LA-based producer, composer, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist. He was born in Los Angeles to Armenian parents who immigrated from Lebanon.

DANCING AS EXERCISE

Dancing As Exercise is a free event sponsored by the Los Angeles County Park program for seniors (50 plus).

There will be live music from 10 a.m. to noon in the Park’s building at 3901 Dunsmore Ave. in La Crescenta. Light refreshments and water are provided along with socialization and information about other park activities.

Dancing, per se, is not required; single persons are welcome. 

CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS

Salem Lutheran Church & School and Bethel Encino Lutheran Church is having its third annual Feed My Starving Children MobilePack. Volunteers (aged 5 and older) will be packing MannaPack® meals that will be distributed to those in need. The packing event finishes on March 22. The event takes place at Salem Lutheran Church, 1211 N. Brand Blvd. in Glendale.

The Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge (CCLCF) hosts a variety of events for the community. Among them:

‘EVERYTHING IS ART’ EXHIBITION AND STUDENT SHOWCASE

The opening reception for “Everything is Art” is on March 20 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The exhibition is from March 21 through March 28 from 12:00 to 4 p.m. at McGroarty Arts Center, 7570 McGroarty Terrace in Tujunga.

Admission is free to this celebration of the creative voices of our foothills community, reminding us that art can be found everywhere – in everything. 

PROM PLUS HOLDING INAUGURAL BINGO NIGHT

On March 21 Prom Plus will be hosting its first ever bingo night. 

Prom Plus, which has been providing Crescenta Valley High School seniors and their guests a safe and fun place to go after prom, is having its first bingo night. Prom Plus is supported by funds raised throughout the year by event organizers. The bingo night will be held at the Verdugo Hills Memorial Hall, 4011 La Crescenta Ave. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and the first game will begin at 6 p.m. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased in advance at www.promplus.org. Tickets will also be available at the CVW office, 3800 La Crescenta Ave. Ste 206 and at the door on the night of the event, while supplies last.

DINE OUT BENEFITS LCFOG

The La Canada Flintridge Orthopaedic Guild is having a dine out on Wednesday, March 25 from 11 a.m to 8 p.m. at Doña Maria, 729 Foothill Blvd. A percentage of all meals will be donated to the LCFOG.

FREE COMMUNITY EVENT

The YWCA of Glendale & Pasadena is celebrating its centennial year with an afternoon of stories, reflection and light refreshments on Wednesday, March 25 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

COURTYARD SALE BENEFITS THURSDAY CLUB

The La Cañada Thursday Club will be having a courtyard estate sale on Saturday, March 28 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Thursday Club, 4440 Woodleigh Lane in LCF. 

Antiques, art, china, collectibles, crystal, electronics, furniture, holiday décor, housewares, jewelry, linens, sporting goods, toys, and more will be on sale. Proceeds from the sale go to the Thursday Club 501(c)4.

Purchases are not considered a charitable contribution.

Admission is free and there is plenty of parking. 

KIWANIS HOSTING INAUGURAL WINE FEST

The Kiwanis Club of the Verdugos (KCOTV) announced its Verdugo Wine Fest, a premier community event scheduled for Saturday, April 18 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. It will be held at the Glendale Community College (GCC) J. Walter Smith Student Center & Terrace, 1500 N. Verdugo Road in Glendale. The festival offers guests a curated selection of wines from renowned regions paired with a variety of gourmet appetizers and vegan-friendly options.

Proceeds from the Verdugo Wine Fest will directly benefit the GCC Foster Youth Support Program (FYSP), providing essential resources for students transitioning from the foster care system into higher education.

General admission tickets are $100; on the day of the event, tickets are $115 and are subject to availability.

Tickets include wine tasting and food. As this event is expected to sell out, early purchase is recommended.

CSC HOLDING ANNUAL ANGEL GALA

Cancer Support Community Greater San Gabriel Valley (CSC) will host its 36th Annual Angel Gala, themed “Where Hope Blooms,” on Saturday, April 18 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at The Langham Huntington Pasadena. The annual event brings together community leaders, healthcare partners, and supporters to raise critical funds for free programs serving individuals and families impacted by cancer. Tickets start at $395. RSVP deadline is April 1.

LANTERMAN HOUSE HOSTS EVENTS

• On April 5 at 1 p.m. the Lanterman House hosts guest lecturer Nathan Marsak for this exciting look at the layers of history of Bunker Hill and transportation in Los Angeles at the turn of the century.

• On May 24 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. is the Lanterman House Annual Summer Picnic. The community is invited on Memorial Day weekend as part of Fiesta Days in La Cañada Flintridge to the Lanterman House Annual Summer Picnic. It features music, living history craftsman and your choice of period attire.

Little Landers Historical Society is seeking volunteers to help support its mission, “To preserve and maintain Bolton Hall Museum and the historical record of Rancho Tujunga.”

Positions on the Bolton Hall 2026 board of directors are open. Other opportunities to volunteer include museum docents, committee members for ongoing projects, special event and exhibit coordinators, administrative, archival or library assistants, facilities maintenance and more.

MONTROSE LIBRARY EVENTS

• The Montrose Library hosts canasta on Tuesday afternoons from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. 
• The Back Alley Painters is a vibrant group of adult artists who gather to create, share their work, offer constructive feedback and enjoy each other’s company.
  Participants are asked to bring their own art supplies – whether watercolor, acrylic, ink or pencil (no oil paints). Meetings are every Monday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Community members are invited to join the Glendale/La Crescenta Stamp Club, a community of stamp enthusiasts that meets regularly to share their passion for this timeless hobby.

ACTIVITIES AT SUNLAND SENIOR CENTER

The Sunland Senior Center offers a selection of classes and activities daily. Whether seniors are looking to exercise or dance or are interested in art, theater, or knitting, the Center has something for everyone. Sunland also hosts bingo on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. and a movie matinee on the big screen at 1 p.m. on Thursdays; on Mondays and Fridays there is country line dancing from noon-1:30 p.m. The Sunland Senior Center runs programming from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. with a donations-based lunch served daily from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
