Crafting for Connection is a free community-centered, intergenerational arts and crafts program aiming to connect local senior citizens and teens through creativity. 

With no art experience necessary, senior citizens and teens are invited to participate in arts and crafts activities specifically designed to encourage conversation, interaction and meaningful connection. During monthly sessions held at the Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge (CCLCF), participants will be paired – one senior citizen and one teen – to form a creative partnership.

“This program is meant to help us create these in-person interactions and connections across the generations,” said Katherine Hsiao, Gold Award Girl Scout and creator of Crafting for Connection. “I think sharing experiences and learning from one another is so important to build our community.”

Through this program, seniors and teens gain an opportunity to foster empathy, share wisdom and to bridge the generational divide.

Sessions will be held on Sundays on Aug. 23, Sept. 13, Oct. 4, Nov. 1 and Dec. 6 from 1 p.m.-2:30 p.m. Sign up at any time.
