The La Crescenta Woman’s Club (LCWC) gals pulled out all the stops for their Valentine’s Day celebration – hors d’oeuvres, dessert buffet, silent auction and the dulcet tones of Hot Topic. Eighty members and guests filled the La Crescenta Avenue Clubhouse. At an admission cost of $35, the evening’s ticket price was a steal.

A highlight of the festivities was a presentation by local chocolatier Zaven Mirelli whose parents Jack and Maral Mirelli own Mirelli Chocolatier in Glendale. A handy hint: chocolate should be kept at 68 degrees to 73 degrees or its oils will rise to the surface creating a “white texture.” A small square of Mirelli’s chocolate was placed at each table setting.

A majority of the evening’s entertainment was provided by Hot Topic Woman’s Quartet, an a cappella quartet singing barbershop harmony. Especially popular with the audience was a McGuire Sisters tune, popular during the mid 1950s and 1960s.

LCWC Co-President Carol Stein shared that this was the Club’s first-time hosting a Valentine’s evening.

“We want to further the friendship and support of our community,” Stein said. “This has been a team effort led by Evening Section director Lisa Malm.”
