The Taste is Coming!

One of our favorite events here at the Chamber is the annual Taste of the Foothills.  Outside, under the stars, typically on a balmy night, the Taste is a culinary exploration of flavors from various local eateries. It’s happening on Thursday, Nov. 5 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Ralphs Marketplace Shopping Center.

If you’ve never set foot inside La Fleur in Montrose, now’s your chance to try some of their delicate pastries. If you’ve been wondering about Seasoning Alley’s kabobs, here may be an opportunity to try one. Love Thee Elbow Room? Come sample their latest creation. These are just three of the dozens of restaurants represented that night. While you’re sampling, you can feel good knowing your $20 entrance fee (less for seniors and kids) benefits not only the Chamber, but local schools as well.

We’ll keep you posted as new restaurants sign on. If you are a restaurant owner and would like to introduce your delicious food to hundreds of locals who like to eat out, contact Lisa at the Chamber to sign up by Oct. 16.

Coming up a week from Saturday, on Oct. 24, is the 20th Annual Foothill Community Clean Up Day. Scheduled on national Make a Difference Day, this volunteer-driven community service day provides opportunities for students, families, service organizations, businesses and other groups to make a difference by sprucing up the foothills.

Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. at Bob Smith Toyota for a complimentary continental breakfast before heading out with trash bags and clean-up instructions.  Wear sturdy shoes and gloves! Afterwards enjoy a complimentary lunch back at Bob Smith.

Important: Participants must pre-register! To sign up, please visit www.tinyurl.com/ovg2wzm.

Finally, please join me in welcoming our newest Chamber members.

Stephanie Becnel is the community manager of the American Cancer Society’s Pasadena office. ACS has 16,000 employees worldwide but with the American Cancer Society it all comes down to the individual. Stephanie and her office are seeking individuals who want to be part of the Foothills Relay for Life’s Event Leadership Team. Consider helping them as ACS strives to make this century “cancer’s last century.” They can be reached at (626) 568-2888 or Stephanie.becnel@cancer.org.

Christine Nuanez is an independent consultant with skin care company Rodan+Fields. Founded by dermatologists Dr. Katie Rodan and Dr. Kathy Fields (creators of Proactiv Solution) Rodan+Fields features a line of premier skin care products that really work. Christine, a local La Crescenta mom and teacher at Monte Vista, will be happy to tell you more about the products. You can reach her at (818) 439-4126 or www.christinenuanez.myrandf.com.

Allstate Auto Repair has been at 3424 Foothill Blvd. in La Crescenta for 10 years. Juan Guerro, owner, and Andrew Zapada, manager, are two of the four employees there that tend to car owners’ auto repair and servicing needs. Allstate Auto is one of few AAA certified shops in the area which means they have to adhere to certain criteria and uphold certifications. They believe giving back to the community is important. They sponsored the Chamber’s Hometown Country Fair and help with fundraising at CV High School where Zapada’s daughter attends.
