10th Annual

Hot Rod & Classic Car Show Coming July 3!

Come to Montrose for the 10th Annual Hot Rod & Classic Car Show, Sunday, July 3.

The biggest holiday, patriotic weekend of the summer is just around the corner and the Montrose Shopping Park is ready with more fun! On Sunday, July 3, we will host our 10th Annual Independence Block Party and Hot Rod & Classic Car Show. This event is so big that we will be closing all three blocks of Honolulu Avenue to make room for the party.

This year, over 150 vintage hot rods will be on display in the 2300 and 2400 blocks. They will be accompanied by their owners to answer any questions you may have about the cars. Dave Maher, who has lived in La Crescenta for 28 years, is running the hot rod portion of the show. Dave worked alongside Don Tubbs at our last few shows and is a car enthusiast himself, owning a 1941 Willys.

Now when was the last time you heard a real hot rod rev its engine? Well, at 10:15 a.m. and 12:15 p.m., you will hear these cars “cackle” as five race cars start their engines all at once. It’s a sound you certainly don’t hear every day and is worth experiencing. The “cackle” will take place at Wickham Place and Honolulu Avenue. Dads will want to bond with their sons for this one.

Tom Russell, owner of Andersen’s Pets, has a passion for classic cars. Tom got his first car when he was 14 and is the proud owner of a 1926 convertible Lincoln limo, among others. Tom is back, running our Classic Car Show. He plans to have more than 45 of these babies in the 2300 block. Think names like Packard, Rolls-Royce, Lincoln, Cobra, Pierce-Arrow, Porsche, Model A Ford, Corvette and more.

As in past years, this show is invitational only and is full. That means we will have lots of cars for you to see and photograph. We will be selling commemorative T-shirts with this year’s logo that you will want to buy. In addition to the cars, we will have special events going on in our Harvest Market, live entertainment and fun for the kids.

Meet me here next week and I’ll be happy to share.

Thanks for supporting us by shopping Montrose.
