The 32nd annual Thanksgiving Run & Food Drive, presented by
the Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge with the City of La Cañada Flintridge, drew a record number of participants and their supporters. Nearly 1,600 runners – many dressed festively for the occasion – gathered at Olberz Park on Thanksgiving morning to take part in the 5K or Kids’ Mile. Top overall finishers received cash prizes and handmade ceramic trophies while top finishers in each age category received medals created by the Center’s renowned ceramics studio. Awards were presented by Mayor
Kim Bowman, while several other La Cañada Flintridge City Council members were in attendance.
In the month leading up to the Thanksgiving Run, the Community Center once again collected donations of non-perishable food and hygiene items. The Food Drive donations were given to Sue’s Garden in La Crescenta for distribution to local families in need.
“The Run has become a beloved tradition for the community, bringing together people of all ages to run, walk or cheer for their families and friends,” said Dan Sernett, president of the board of the Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge. “This event has grown year after year, and exemplifies the Center’s dedication to providing programs that are available to enrich the lives of everyone in the community and to do so in close
partnership with the City of LCF and our many supportive sponsors.”
