Part of the Community – USC-VHH Hospital
For 50 years, USC Verdugo Hills Hospital has provided timely primary and emergency care to the community.
“Our community deserves to be able to stay nearby, especially for emergency and critical care,” said Tarina L. Kang, MD, MHA, FACEP and chief medical officer at USC-VHH. “They deserve that. When you have a community hospital, it allows personalized care. A local facility knows the community, which [builds] trust and better communication.”

Dr. Kang went on to describe the importance of having continuity of care that is available at a local community hospital.
“The continuity of care – the relationships we build – is important for us at USC-VHH,” she said.
She added that USC-VHH plays a unique role within the community.
“We are more than a medical facility,” she said. “We know the needs of our community. We are a trusted facility that has grown with the community. What’s especially nice is that we’re just a few minutes drive for most of those we serve. We want the public to know that we’ve grown with them. We’re committed to knowing the needs of the community. As a leadership group, we understand the role of equitable care. We are led by the needs of those around us.”
Dr. Kang also understands the importance of getting the word out about what it is they do.
“We value our relationship with the CV Weekly,” she said. “Advertising creates a consistent and visible forum. It’s how we hear what is being said that allows us to best serve the community – that is really a strong indicator. Our advertising shows that we are maintaining credibility and accountability with the patients we serve.”
