Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy (FSHA) in La Cañada announced that Heather Collins is the new head varsity volleyball coach and Ruki Kennedy is the new assistant varsity volleyball coach. Collins is credited with bringing over 30 years of coaching experience, NCAA Division I playing credentials and a proven record of developing high-performing student-athletes. Kennedy is credited with having championship experience at both the collegiate and club levels. In addition to leading the varsity squad, Kennedy will also coach the freshman-sophomore team, bringing her expertise and winning mindset to players across all levels.

Following her playing career, Collins spent nearly three decades coaching at the collegiate and youth levels. She served as assistant coach at Loyola Marymount University from 1997–2010 and head coach of the volleyball program at Occidental College from 2011–2024. Her experience also includes leadership roles with elite club programs and international coaching work in Italy, the Dominican Republic, Australia, and Costa Rica.

Kennedy brings a strong competitive background, having competed as a student-athlete in two NCAA Division II national championship tournaments and two CCCAA championship tournaments. She later achieved national success as a USA volleyball national champion coach with San Gabriel Elite Volleyball Club, where she helped guide teams at the highest levels of club competition.
Kennedy is currently a master’s candidate in sports management at California State University, Long Beach (Class of 2026) where her coursework includes sport finance, law, and the history of sport and leisure. She holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Cal Poly Pomona.
