Kristin Hicks, Lois Lee and Sean Park of La Crescenta have been named to the Whitworth University provost’s honor roll for fall semester 2016.

The students qualified for the academic honor society by maintaining a grade point average of at least 3.75 during the semester.

Located in Spokane, Washington, Whitworth is a private, liberal arts university affiliated with the Presbyterian Church. The university, which has an enrollment of nearly 3,000 students, offers more than 100 undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

Anna McGregor, class of 2018 at Connecticut College, has been named to the dean’s list for the 2016 fall semester, achieving dean’s high honors. McGregor is a theater, music major.

Founded in 1911, Connecticut College is a highly selective private liberal college located on a 750-acre arboretum campus overlooking Long Island Sound and the Thames River. Higher Education Resource Services (HERS) announced that Nancy McQueen, professor of microbiology and associate dean for the College of Natural and Social Sciences at California State University, Los Angeles, was selected to attend the 2017 HERS Institute at Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania from July 9-22, 2017.

A Glendale resident, McQueen was awarded a CBL (Clare Booth Luce) Scholarship that provides full tuition, accommodations, meals and travel to women in STEM higher education to attend the HERS Institute at either the University of Denver or Bryn Mawr College. McQueen will be part of the HERS Luce Program for Women in STEM Leadership.

A Cal State LA faculty member since 1989, McQueen teaches a wide variety of courses including general medical microbiology, pathogenic bacteriology, virology, hematology and molecular diagnostics. In addition, she provides research training to undergraduate and graduate students in the University’s Department of Biological Sciences.
