3100 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Crescenta, an employee at a business reported seeing two men enter the business. One man walked to the back of the business and entered the employee break room. The second man stayed near the lobby. After a few seconds the first man exited the break room, joined the second man and they both left. The employee went into the break room and discovered her purse and iPhone were stolen. A witness reported seeing the men exit the business; the first ran across the parking lot and got into a black Honda. The second man hurried after him and got into the vehicle. They fled the area at 7 p.m.
Aug. 22
300 block of San Juan Way in La Cañada, sunglasses, shoes and a bag containing workout equipment were stolen from an unlocked vehicle at 3:12 a.m.
5300 block of Ocean View Boulevard in La Cañada, an unlocked vehicle was ransacked between 3 a.m. and 7 a.m.
5300 block of Ocean View Boulevard in La Cañada, a credit card, cash and two bags containing soccer equipment were stolen from an unlocked vehicle at 12:20 p.m.
3000 block of Brookhill Street in La Crescenta, a resident left her home in the morning and when she returned she found the window panel of her residence’s front door was broken and the door open. Drawers in one bedroom had been gone through and several pieces of jewelry were stolen between 8 a.m. and 6:20 p.m.
Aug. 21
4500 block of Leata Lane in La Cañada, school supplies and cash were stolen from an unlocked vehicle overnight.
4800 block of Commonwealth Avenue in La Cañada, clothing and prescription drugs were stolen from an unlocked vehicle overnight.
2300 block of Montrose Avenue in Montrose, ice skates and hockey equipment and clothing were stolen from a parking garage at an apartment complex between Aug. 14 and Aug. 21.
Aug. 18
5100 block of Angeles Crest Highway in La Cañada, a woman reported that she had answered a Craigslist offer for Rose Bowl tickets. She texted the person offering the tickets and followed instructions to send money for the tickets. She was in constant correspondence with the person offering the tickets via text until he received the funds, then there was no more contact. The woman did not receive the tickets she had purchased. She looked on Craigslist and the man was still offering the tickets to others. She reported the loss to her bank and to Sheriff’s Dept.
The theft occurred at 2 p.m.
Aug. 17
4500 block of Crown Avenue in La Cañada, a woman reported that she had arrived at school and had placed her purse next to her desk. It had been left unattended. At about 2 p.m. she received a notice from her bank asking to verify a number of purchases made with her debit card. Two of the three charges were not her charges. She checked her purse and found several credit cards missing.
The purse was left unattended between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
1300 block of Green Street in La Cañada, a resident reported that he hired house cleaners to come to his home. A few days after they had cleaned the residence his daughter informed him that a diamond necklace was missing from a dish in her bathroom. He contacted the cleaning service. The manager he spoke with said she did not feel the item was stolen by one of her staff but for the resident to file a report with the company he must first file a police report.
The incident occurred at 2 p.m.
