In Brief

Caltrans to Close Eastbound I-210
The California Dept. of Transportation (Caltrans) plans to fully close a segment of the eastbound I-210 (Foothill) Freeway on Monday, Aug. 27 at 11:55 p.m. until 5 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28 for an overhead sign installation near Ocean View Boulevard.
Motorists traveling on eastbound I-210 will be diverted to the Ocean View Boulevard off-ramp and can immediately get back on the freeway using the Ocean View Boulevard on-ramp. A signed detour will be posted for motorists who need to connect to southbound State Route 2 (SR-2).
An additional full evening closure may occur the following two evenings if the installation is not completed.
Motorists should expect delays and are strongly advised to use alternate routes or avoid the area.

Urban Wildlife Tracking & Photography at the Rosemont Preserve
All are invited on Saturday, Aug. 25 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. for an informative tour about tracking and photographing the wildlife at the Rosemont Preserve. Join wildlife photographer and expert tracker Johanna Turner as she explains why wildlife comes into local yards and how to spot their tracks. She will talk about tracking mountain lions in the Verdugo Mountains and how her photos helped discover a new mountain lion in the Verdugo Mountains.
Because of the intimate nature of this tour – looking for tracks along the trail – the tour is limited to 15. Those who would like to attend please RSVP to RosemontFriends@gmail.com. The first 15 to respond will be guaranteed a spot; a waiting list will be created in case of cancellations.
Bring all your questions about wildlife. Learn what to look for when taking a stroll in the wild and the differences between animal tracks.
The Preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave. Bring water, a hat and wear sturdy shoes to walk the trail.
