Candlelight Vigil Honoring Victims of Violence
The City of Glendale Commission on the Status of the Women and the YWCA of Glendale is hosting their Annual Candlelight Vigil on Thursday, Oct. 5 at 6 p.m. at the YWCA of Glendale.
This year’s event will focus on voices against violence, an evening of remembrance to honor those who lost their life to domestic violence, and celebrate the voices of survivors. There will be light snacks, speakers, a peace vigil for hope and safety, and other community organizations there to promote healthy and safe communities and homes. As part of the program, special recognition will be given to Charles Lazzaretto, an officer of the Glendale Police Dept. who lost his life while conducting an investigation of a domestic violence case 20 years ago. Officer Lazzaretto’s family members will be in attendance during this special ceremony.
The event is free and open to the public. Limited parking is available in the parking lot behind the YWCA on Geneva Street.
