Rosemont Preserve Restoration Day
Please join us on Saturday, July 8 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. to help protect the natural habitat at Rosemont Preserve. Come and help remove some invasive plants and water the growing trees.
Volunteers should bring water and wear sturdy shoes, comfortable clothes and garden gloves (long pants and long sleeves are recommended). Tools will be available.
The Rosemont Preserve is located at the top of Rosemont Avenue in La Crescenta. Due to limited parking, volunteers should park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave.

This Week at La Crescenta Library
The La Crescenta Library hosts a variety of summer discovery programs that offer something for everyone. This week, on Saturday, July 8 at 2 p.m. it’s Discover an Organization! Drop in and explore all the local organizations that partner with the La Crescenta Library.
On Tuesday, July 11 at 4:30 p.m. it’s Ozobot Challenge. Discover your inner genius – we all have it! Challenge your creativity and coding skills.
Then on Wednesday, July 12 at 3:30 p.m. Balloon Art Show! Discover fun with balloons.

Riverwalk Workday
Join the Glendale Narrows Riverwalk volunteers on Saturday, July 8 from 8 a.m. to noon for the Riverwalk Workday. Help is needed for the maintenance of the landscaped areas along the trail. Participants should wear sturdy shoes, protective clothing including long pants, hat and sun protection. Those who have hand clippers and work gloves are asked to bring them along. Other tools will be available. Minors will need to have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian. The waiver can be found at the City of Glendale website or at www.cvweekly.com/NEWS.

CVWD Board Meeting Schedule
The scheduled upcoming meetings for the board of directors of the Crescenta Valley Water District are Tuesday, July 11 at 7 p.m. and Tuesday, Aug. 15 at 7 p.m. Meetings are held at CVWD’s administrative office located at 2700 Foothill Blvd., La Crescenta. The public is encouraged to attend.
Regularly scheduled board meetings are at 7 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Please note that there is only one meeting of the CVWD board of directors for July and August.

County’s Sales Tax Rate Increased
Reminder that the half-cent sales tax increase approved by Los Angeles County voters in November 2016 – Measure M – went into effect on July 1. The increase applies to every city and unincorporated area of Los Angeles County, bringing the countywide sales and use tax rate to 9.25%.

Glendale Youth Alliance Named
Nonprofit of the Year
State Senator Anthony J. Portantino recognized the Glendale Youth Alliance (GYA) as the 25th State Senate District Nonprofit of the Year. GYA’s Board Chair Shant Sahakian and Executive Director Karine Grigoryan were in Sacramento to accept the honor.
The GYA designs programs to build civic values and provide a foundation for youth to learn job skills and become productive participants of the workforce. Since 1993, GYA has provided opportunities for change and growth to our community’s at risk youth, impacting the lives of over 9,300 young people by preparing them for the future workforce.
