CicLAvia Announces New Route
The 21st CicLAvia event launches its second event of the 2017 season with a new route that will travel for three miles from Atwater Village into the heart of downtown Glendale on June 11.
 Called CicLAvia – Glendale Meets Atwater Village Presented by Metro, the event will mark the first time that popular open streets festival comes to this part of the region, continuing its commitment of helping Angelenos explore new neighborhoods. Participants are welcomed on all forms of non-motorized travel, including walking, bikes, wheelchairs, skateboards and strollers.
Glendale city officials will join Los Angeles city officials in kicking off the CicLAvia festivities at 8:30 a.m. for a morning press conference at 216 N. Brand Blvd. Glendale.
Fundraiser for Family of Killed Teen
A fundraiser to benefit the family of Michael Nelson is being held on Tuesday, June 13 from 5 p.m. to
10 p.m. at Joselito’s Montrose, 2345 Honolulu Ave. Nelson, 19, was killed in a tragic motorcycle accident on
May 30.
Joselito’s will be donating 15% of all proceeds to the family that will offset funeral and other related costs. Other upcoming fundraisers include Blaze Pizza on June 19 when 20% of all sales all day will be given to the family and on June 21, Black Cow and Star Cafe will be donating 15% of sales all day.

More Caltrans Closures
The California Dept. of Transportation (Caltrans) closed westbound Foothill Freeway (I-210) Gould Avenue on-ramp and Angeles Crest Highway off-ramp westbound on Monday, June 12 at 7 p.m. as part of a pavement rehabilitation project. The ramp closures will remain in effect through August 2017, weather permitting and subject to change. Detour signs will be posted.

The La Crescenta Library hosts a variety of summer discovery programs that offer something for everyone. Rosemont Preserve Restoration Day
All are invited on Saturday, June 10 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. to help protect the natural habitat at Rosemont Preserve. The winter rains brought relief from the drought but also brought back some non-native invasive plants that need to be removed. Come and see the new trail as well!
 Wear sturdy shoes, comfortable clothes and garden gloves (long pants and sleeves are recommended). Tools will be available.
 The Preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, please park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave. in La Crescenta.
 This event is free to the public and suitable for all ages; no reservations required. Rain cancels. Sorry, no pets please.

The Future of Workspaces Topic of Next Glendale Tech on Tap
The topic of the June 14 Glendale Tech on Tap will focus on the future of workspaces … and why you should care. Silvana Toledo, founder of Collab&Play, a Glendale-based co-working space that features on-site childcare, will present this free talk.
Toledo will speak about the co-working industry, its benefits and its trends. This café edition of Tech on Tap will take place from 8 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. at Capital One Café, 821 Americana Way, Glendale. Coffee and pastries will be provided. Brief presentation, morning reception. Thirty-minute talk starts at 8:15 a.m. Casual environment with good company and great conversation! Helicopters on Display at Santa Monica Airport
Public service and medical evacuation helicopters, as well as news-gathering helicopters, will be on display at Santa Monica Airport on Saturday, June 10 from 10 a.m. until noon. The public is invited.
Crews will be on hand to talk with all interested visitors. Children accompanied by adults (as well as all local residents) are welcomed.
Current plans call for participation by aircraft from Los Angeles Police Department, U.S. Coast Guard, Los Angeles County Sheriff Dept., Los Angeles County Fire Dept., as well as Mercy Air (Medevac) and Welk Air (Electronic News Gathering). Additionally, there will be an aerial cinematography helicopter used to make movies and there will be a few private helicopters on display.
