The following local residents recently were initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Jihee Yoon of La Cañada was initiated at University of the Pacific and Tyler Dunivan-Scott of Sunland was initiated at California State University, Los Angeles.
These residents are among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10% of seniors and 7.5% of juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10% of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.

The following students graduated from Azusa Pacific University on Saturday, May 6 and joined approximately 1,700 graduates at the spring commencement ceremonies.
Andrew Baxter of Shadow Hills graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Christian ministries, Sanghee Chung of La Crescenta with a Bachelor of Science in nursing; Sophia Cowell of Shadow Hills with a Bachelor of Arts in graphic design; George Vine of La Cañada with a Bachelor of Science in computer science.
