On Feb. 4  at 9:39 p.m., the Glendale Police Dept. responded to the 2200 block of Sherwood Place in the City of Glendale, regarding a residential burglary in progress. Multiple police units, airship, and K-9 teams responded to the location within a few minutes of receiving the call. The Burbank Police Dept. K-9 unit also responded and assisted with the investigation and perimeter.The resident, a 41-year-old female, was home alone with her 4-year-old daughter and newborn baby boy when she heard the side gate open. The resident turned on the light and saw a male through the window. The resident called 9-1-1 and hid in a bedroom with her children while remaining on the phone with the police department. While on the phone, the resident heard glass breaking inside her home.

The Glendale Police Dept. arrived on scene and searched the residence and surrounding area for the suspects. The airship identified two suspects running through neighboring yards. Several commands were given by officers for the suspects to stop and surrender; however, they continued to flee on foot. Several witnesses assisted by calling 9-1-1 and reporting males running through their property.

Two K-9 teams, K-9 Jager and K-9 Branko, conducted a search of the area and located both suspects in the 3100 block of Emerald Isle Drive.

The suspects, identified as 20-year-old Joshua Muema of Pasadena and 26-year-old Michael McCray of Pasadena, were placed under arrest and booked for burglary.

Further investigation revealed a broken window was located in the master bedroom of the victim’s home. A silver 2007 BMW registered to McCray with paper plates was located by officers on Kirkham Drive near the victim’s residence.

Glendale Police Dept. detectives are investigating the possible connection between this case and recent burglaries occurring on the east side of the city over the past several months.

McCray has an extensive criminal history and has served time in prison for robbery. Muema also has an extensive criminal history and is currently on parole for residential burglary.
