For those who ever wondered about the house just north of the La Cañada Library, since 1968 it has been the headquarters for Action League of the Foothills (ALF) and the Bargain Box Thrift Store.

The Bargain Box Thrift Store is operated and staffed by Action League of the Foothills’ members who welcome public donations of gently used household items, clothing, toys, collectibles and more.

• Donations accepted  Monday thru Saturday from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (except on posted closed dates). When donating items, please check the ALF website (alfoothills.org) for items that we cannot accept or call (818) 790-6467 for more information
• Bargain Box shopping hours are 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday (except for posted closed dates).

During the year, the Bargain Box holds special holiday sales for everything and is decorated for the occasions. The Christmas Sale, Jewelry Sale and Holiday Dress Sale are coming in November. The ALF calendar of all sales/dates/times can be found on the ALF website (alfoothills.org). Also on the ALF website, shoppers can register to receive Constant Contact emails that keep people updated on holiday sales and other Bargain Box happenings.

ALF members work on all programs and at the Bargain Box while enjoying the social interactions with other members and the community. Bargain Box funds support the drama program, musical instrument rental program, Books & Beyond, ALF Teens, scholarships and a wide variety of programs selected by the ALF in Action Committee each year.

For those looking for new, rewarding, hands-on and fun volunteer opportunities, ALF welcomes new members throughout the year.
