Fast and Friendly: Seasoning Alley Wins With Fresh, Homemade Mediterranean Favorites

By Jon K.

When you walk into Seasoning Alley on Honolulu Avenue in Montrose you may have to herb your enthusiasm. After all, there’s a lot to like here: a welcoming vibe, fresh and tasty classic Mediterranean food and lots of meal choices, including an array of appetizing side dishes.

All the iconic Middle Eastern favorites are on the menu including beef kabobs, falafel, veggie kabobs, chicken and beef shawarma and even the rarely offered lamb shish kabobs. All can be served in your choice of a wrap, bowl or plate.

Rather have a salad? Caesar and Greek salads are among several choices. Prices are fair: a chicken kabob wrap served with salad is $15.74. Sides include homemade eggplant dip, hummus, garlic spread, dolmas, tabbouleh and more. Yum yum.

We recently ordered a generous whole rotisserie chicken, served golden brown, juicy and perfectly seasoned, unlike those sometimes overcooked and salty store-bought birds. Tangy pickled turnips, a mouth-watering garlic spread and four pieces of fresh pita bread are included.

There are vegetarian options; family party packages serving up to 16 adults. Outdoor seating is available and they do not accept reservations.

Seasoning Alley is located at 2332 Honolulu Ave. in Montrose. It is open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Seasoning Alley can be reached at (818) 918-9943. Other locations are in Hollywood and Monrovia.
