The City of Glendale welcomed a capacity crowd to its Third Annual Women’s Equality Day Celebration on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at the historic Alex Theatre Courtyard, bringing together community members, professionals, civic and business leaders and advocates for an evening of meaningful conversation, networking and connection.

The event, co-sponsored by the Glendale Commission on the Status of Women, continued to build on the success of previous years and reflected the community’s growing enthusiasm for a dedicated space to connect, exchange ideas and engage in conversations about the experiences and opportunities of women in the workplace and beyond.

A highlight of the evening was a dynamic panel discussion moderated by Silva Harapetian featuring Dr. Angélica S. Gutiérrez, Ramela Ohanian, Dr. Rita Gallardo Good and Lessa Kanani’opua Pelayo-Lozada. The conversation explored topics including imposter syndrome, allyship, contract and salary negotiations and unconscious bias, with panelists sharing personal experiences, practical insights and perspectives with attendees.

The evening also featured facilitated networking, giving attendees an opportunity to meet one another, exchange ideas, build professional and community connections and engage with organizations offering resources and information.

“Women’s rights deserve more than a once-a-year proclamation, and equality requires more than a one-day celebration. It takes sustained work in our workplaces, our public institutions and our homes,” said Glendale Mayor Ardy Kassakhian. “Seeing this event grow each year and draw greater interest and support is encouraging because it brings more people into that work. The measure of its success is what we carry forward: the opportunities we create, the barriers we remove, and the women and girls we help succeed. I’m grateful to our outstanding panelists and moderator, city staff, and sponsors for the time and effort that made this event possible.”

The City of Glendale extends its appreciation to the Glendale Commission on the Status of Women, event sponsors and partners, panelists, participating organizations, City staff and everyone who attended and contributed to the success of this year’s celebration.
