LCIF Holding ‘Grace-giving’
Lutheran Church in the Foothills (LCIF) has launched an autumn
donation drive ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday. The effort, titled “Grace-giving,” aims to collect food and essential supplies for local families in need. The initiative, which runs through Nov. 22, supports the Sunland-based charitable organization Making It Happen.
Church leaders are asking community members and parishioners to donate non-perishable food items and essential hygiene products. Requested pantry staples include canned foods, dry legumes, peanut butter, dry pasta, sauces and boxed meals. The drive is also seeking hygiene essentials, including wipes, feminine hygiene products and diapers of all sizes.
Donors can participate during Sunday morning services by bringing bags or boxes directly to the altar where the items will be blessed. For those unable to attend Sunday services, donations may be dropped off at the church office Monday through Thursday between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Office-delivered items will be brought to the altar on the following Sunday morning to be included in the weekly blessing.
In addition to “Grace-giving,” LCIF invites local bookworms to its next book club meeting on Monday, Oct. 19 from 1 p.m.-2 p.m. in the church’s conference room. All are invited to join in a discussion of “A Marriage at Sea” by author Sophie Elmhirst.
LCIF’s book club meets on the third Monday of each month. The selection for November is “Theo of Golden” by author Allen Levi.
