Fall is in the Air …?
As I write this the outside temperature is 83 degrees with an expected high of 88 degrees. Where oh where are our fall temperatures? Looking at the weather app on my phone it looks like the heat will be turned up through next week – yuck! No sweater weather here.
But perhaps it’ll be good beer weather – and that is what can be found at Saturday’s Oktoberfest! The 2200 – 2400 blocks of Honolulu Avenue will be transformed, courtesy of the Montrose-Verdugo City Chamber, into a celebration of all things German. I’ll be on-site, located at a wine booth near the former Citibank site, and hope to see many CV Chamber supporters there.
October is a busy month for the CV Chamber! On Oct. 6 we have our monthly board meeting at Sadler Hall, 2563 Foothill Blvd. on the grounds of St. Luke’s of the Mountains. Our meeting starts at 5:45 p.m. and lasts for about 90 minutes.
On Oct. 8 at 11 a.m., a ribbon cutting will be held celebrating the grand opening of Planet Fitness at 2647 Foothill Blvd. in La Crescenta.
On Oct. 17, also at SadlerHall, the CV Chamber offers Waffles & Mimosas. It’s from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and, for a nominal fee, you’ll enjoy (what else?) waffles & mimosas! The cost is just $15 for adults, which buys two waffles and a mimosa (more will be available for an additional cost). The cost for kids is just $10 and those 6 and under are free! It’ll be a fun fundraiser!
Then on Oct. 18, the CV and Montrose-Verdugo City chambers are having a joint ribbon cutting for i9 Sports. It’s at 10 a.m. and will help the iconic company kick off its fall season. It’ll be held on New York Avenue.
Then on Oct. 29 at 6:30 p.m., the CV Chamber is hosting the screening of “Coroner to the Stars,” the story of retired coroner Thomas Noguchi. It is also being held at St. Luke’s of the Mountains, 2563 Foothill Blvd. Vidal Herrera of 1-800-Autopsy, a private pathology service and newer member of the CV Chamber of Commerce, will be making a presentation. For non-Chamber members the cost is $5; for members, it is a free event!
