On Sept. 9 at approximately 10:04 p.m., Glendale police officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of East Colorado Street regarding a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

The vehicle involved in the collision fled the scene without stopping. The pedestrian, a male approximately 60 years old, sustained life-threatening injuries. The victim, whose identity is not being released at this time, was transported to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Detectives from the Glendale Police Dept.’s Traffic Bureau and Robbery-Homicide Unit responded to the scene and immediately began investigating the incident. Through witness descriptions, video footage and an ALPR timestamped photograph, detectives were able to identify a possible suspect vehicle and its license plate. Investigators used additional resources to identify the vehicle’s registered owner and conducted follow-up at the registered owner’s listed address.

Through the detectives’ investigation, the suspect was ultimately identified as 36-year-old Justin Ramirez of Los Angeles. Shortly after 1 a.m. on Sept. 10, detectives located Ramirez at his place of employment in the 1200 block of East Colorado Street. Ramirez was arrested and taken into custody for felony hit-and-run.

This remains an ongoing investigation. Glendale police will continue investigating and working closely with the Office of the Los Angeles County District Attorney to determine any other appropriate charges related to the victim’s death.
