200 block of Angeles Crest Highway in Angeles National Forest, a driver reported parking his vehicle in the parking lot at Switzer Falls, securing the vehicle and leaving for a hike. When he returned from his hike he entered his vehicle and drove away. He later received a message from his bank regarding possible fraudulent charges on his credit card. He then checked for his wallet in his vehicle and found it missing. 

Further investigation found that there had been several attempted charges made on his credit cards that had been in his wallet. He also found the driver’s side front door locking mechanism on his vehicle had been punched. 

The theft occurred between 8:20 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. 

Angeles Crest Highway/Mt. Wilson Red Box Road, Angeles National Forest, a woman reported parking her vehicle in the Red Box parking lot, securing the vehicle and going for a hike. When she retuned she did not see any signs of damage to her vehicle and drove away. She later went to purchase food at a restaurant and noticed her credit cards, which were located in her wallet, had been on the rear passenger floorboard of her vehicle. She found her wallet was missing. 

The theft occurred between 7:46 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. 

Aug. 22

2200 block of Orange Cove Avenue in La Crescenta, a resident reported mailing a check that was a payment to Southern California Edison. He mailed it at a USPS office but could not remember whether it was an office in the 2800 block of Honolulu Avenue or the 2100 block of Montrose Avenue in Montrose. He later checked his bank account and found the check he wrote for SCE had been changed; both the payee and amount of the check had been altered. 

The forgery and theft occurred between Aug. 22 and Sept. 3.
