“If laughter is the best medicine, then we’re the pharmacy,” so said Comic Cure Creative Director Richy Leis who wants to help blossoming comics develop their stand-up comedy skills and debut at Pasadena’s Ice House after five weeks of classes in Glendale.

Veteran comic and “Last Comic Standing” star Martin Morrow will teach the classes, which begin on Wednesday, Oct. 14 through Wednesday, Nov. 11. The classes will meet from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the ace/121 Gallery, 121 Kenwood St. in Glendale.

The live graduation show is on Thursday, Nov. 12 at 8 p.m. at the Ice House Comedy Club at 24 N. Mentor Ave. in Pasadena.  

Glendale Arts Chief Operating Officer Maria Sahakian has worked on the original collaboration of Glendale Arts and Comic Cure starting in 2016.  

“We’re excited to build on that history with the Stand-Up Comedy class,” said Sahakian, “Whether someone has always wondered what it would be like to try stand-up or is just looking for a fun, new creative outlet, this is the opportunity to get behind the mic and give it a shot.”
