Don Verran Tubbs

Dec. 5, 1934 – July 13, 2026

Don Tubbs, 91, of Glendale passed away last month at Sparr Heights Memory Care in Montrose.

Born in Glendale and graduating from Glendale High School, he joined the Navy where he acquired skills for becoming a design engineer. After the Navy, he was hired at the aerospace company Librascope in Glendale where he spent his entire career. When he retired, he was a senior staff engineer and had worked on a variety of projects – some in other countries like Australia and Sweden.

Don’s love of hot rods and racing then started early in life. He was very active in all aspects of the hobby. He was a member of the Early Rodders who gather at Starbucks in La Cañada to talk and show their vehicles. He and some friends were instrumental in creating the Montrose Car Show, which is very popular today.

Don is survived by his wife Patty of 56 years and his sons Steve, Dan, Mark and Patty’s daughter Lynn, as well as many other family members.

We will miss him terribly.
